Who is Keith Milsom?
I am basically an entrepreneur who has had a very wide training and experience of business and run a number of businesses of my own. After I sold my leisure management business in 2000 , I made a decision to leave the “corporate” world and learn about E-Commerce by developing my own small business marketing left-handed products on the Internet. Having developed it from a traditional retail and mail order business into the largest specialist operation of its size in the world, I have learned a huge amount about the internet and how to run a profitable web business and want some new challenges helping others to improve their web profits.
My previous roles and experience have included:
- Qualified as a Chartered Management accountant at age 21 then taking various senior financial management roles in commercial operations;
- Senior Consultant with the business consultancy operation of a major London accounting firm, specialising in business planning and development and management information systems;
- Senior Manager in the Corporate Finance Group of the same firm, specialising in business planning and raising finance for development and acquisition, management buyouts and private company acquisitions;
- Freelance consultant providing business development and information systems advice to a variety of clients;
- Organised Personal Development seminars and training events;
- Director of a company producing and selling in audio recordings of personal and business development materials on cassette and CDs. Promoted a personal development and success magazine and audio products.
- Commercial Director and 40% shareholder of a sports and leisure management business that I grew from £2m to £20m turnover with over 1,500 staff and then sold to a larger business;
- Owner and managing director of Anything Left-handed, which is now the leading specialist left-handed business worldwide (www.anythingleft-handed.co.uk). In this role I have spent several years learning about web site development, operation and marketing and E-Commerce in general and now have a very wide knowledge and practical experience of developing an Internet business;
- I have been invited to speak at several large conferences on Internet marketing and E-commerce and asked to give advice informally to a number of other businesses, including one of Europe's biggest Search Engine Optmisation businesses!
- Over the past 7 years of worknig on the Internet I have also become... a web developer, internet marketer, SEO expert, Adwords and Adsense expert, affiliate marketer (both as merchant and affiliate). I have created and still run over 100 web sites on a wide variety of topics, all monetised in various ways to test and earn income from a lot of different streams.
I am 48 years old, married with two teenage children and my interests outside work include golf, fast cars, travel, socialising and all aspects of computing and the Internet.
So why I am writing a manual and starting
a profit improvement web site?
When I look at other peoples’ web businesses I usually think to myself “if you let me loose on that for a couple of months I could make a dramatic improvement in profits”. I can see basic mistakes they have made in what they have done and, more to the point, a huge number of things that they HAVEN’T done that would generate additional income and profit.
While learning about internet marketing and building the Anything Left-handed business online, I have read probably thousands of books, reports and training courses, listened to hundreds of audio recordings and watched loads of videos. I have also tried hundreds of different bits of software, scripts, online tools and services and a very wide range of marketing approaches and methods.
Some of these things were great and worked, others were rubbish and a waste of time - but at least I now know which are which! My hard disk is chock full of software, tools, reports, information sources and other valuable resources that have taken me years to extract from the mass of information available on the web. I have also got a lot of articles and reports I have written myself about a wide range of subjects related to doing business on the web.
When you put all that together, I reckon I would be a pretty useful resource for almost any web business, but particularly small to medium sized businesses that are not getting the success they really deserve online.
I aim to prove that by providing advice and resources via the milsoms.com web site and look forward to collecting testimonials for people who really have been able to increase their web profits and personal wealth by using the strategies and tools I have provided.
I have read a lot of internet business manuals written by people who have never really run their own business but just make an income by telling other people how to make an income! I hope I bring a "real world" approach and style and I know that all the things I will be proposing have actually worked in my own businesses.
